Scope and Content Number 6 and 8 Market Place, Pittenweem, Fife Pittenweem became a burgh of barony dependent on its Augustinian Priory in the 15th century, and a royal burgh in 1541. Appearing in records in 1228, its port harboured a thriving fishing fleet, and was home to merchants trading with the Low Countries. Number 6 to 8 Market Place was built in about 1850. A chimney rises from the wall-head between the two dormer windows. Its base is decorated with stone scrolls. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
