Scope and Content North end of St John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, Marygate, Pittenweem, Fife St John the Evangelist Episcopal Church was built in 1805 in a simple Gothic style. A north porch and an east sanctuary were added in 1869-70 when the interior was remodelled to face east. Robert Lorimer supervised its refurbishing in 1924. Pittenweem, Marygate, St John's Episcopal Church / Religion / / Church / DIGITAL IMAGES Gothic architecture, the distinctive pointed-arched style of the later Middle Ages, was revived in the late 18th century. It remained popular for public buildings, especially churches, well into the 20th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
