Scope and Content Gatehouse, Pittenweem Priory, Pittenweem, Fife Pittenweem Priory was founded in the 13th century when Augustinian priors moved to the site from the Isle of May. The surviving buildings, probably dating from the 15th century, have been substantially altered and restored since the Middle Ages. This gatehouse, built in the 15th century, controlled access to the priory. The corbels on the top of the existing wall would have supported a parapet. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
