Scope and Content Front of west range Pittenweem Priory, Pittenweem, Fife Pittenweem Priory was founded in the 13th century when Augustinian priors moved to the site from the Isle of May. The surviving buildings, probably dating from the 15th century, have been substantially altered and restored since the Middle Ages. The front of the west range is 16th- to 17th- century in appearance. Probably originally a dormitory or refectory, it was converted to a Manse in 1588. A town hall replaced the south end (right) in 1821. Its porch was added in the late 19th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
