Scope and Content Original plan, Falkland House, Fife Falkland House was built as Nuthill House in 1839-44 by William Burn for Onesiphorus Tyndall-Bruce whose wife inherited the Falkland estate. The interior was remodelled by R W Schultz for the Marquis of Bute who had purchased the property in 1887. This plan shows the first-floor before it was altered. The private quarters form a back-to-front L in the angle between the main block (lower left) and the servants' block (upper right). A semicircular conservatory is shown (left). This was never built.
