Dark red-brown snapshot album with hard covers titled on front 'Snap Shots' and impressed 'For Five by Four'; 12 card pages secured with linen. Inside front cover inscribed: 'Dorothy M. Turnbull Sep: 22nd 1904. With love from Mother.' One of a group of Turnbull family albums, containing mostly snapshots of people with some architectural backgrounds. The houses and people recur in all the albums. Included are Jill and Jack Kelso with other children at Cluny Gardens 1898; Aunty May; Cissy Thorburn; children with Miss Wilson at Fettes College; children at Craigmount Drill class by Miss Palmer, with a key identifying Marjory Hendry, Grace Dovey, May Reevie, Edith Grieve, Letty Wood, Dorothy Turnbull, Margaret Drysdale, Fee Smith, Dorothy Johnsone, Pearlie Moire, Dorothy Lammie, Charlotte Fisher, Nancy Hendry, Nino Smerdon, Ruth Waugh and Cissy Thorburn; Bessie Inglis, Nellie Gordon and others at Corrennie Gardens; EJT playing golf at Braid Hill 1902; RT at Rugby Cadet Corps 1909; Dorothy Nimmo, Betty Clark, Edith Nimmo and Evelyn Goggs at Craigmount 1909. A number of faded pictures include sheep at Ripplesmead, views and groups in Madras, India 1907; G Kindersley playing croquet at Stanstead Earls; Jack Hansard and Mr Onslow; Johnny Paterson with rabbits; launch of HMS "Orion" at Portsmouth 1910; views at Knocke showing a French convent, a windmill and the English and parish churches; snapshots taken in Belgium 1910. There are some views of Lochearnhead showing the Episcopal church, interior and exterior, and a house called Tigh-na-cuillan 1911, with a bust of RJ Kindersley (Grandpapa) as a boy in the dining room. Some pictures taken at Welgelezen, Cape Town include FJ Turnbull's (FJ Vereker's) wedding cale, 25th October 1911. Many other family groups are identified only by initials.
