Scope and Content Cup-and-ring marked stone from Gallowhill, Perth and Kinross This cup-and-ring-marked stone was found at Gallowhill. It was reportedly found around 1896, 'on the public road'. It is now in the collections of the National Museums of Scotland. This view shows the stone. It is roughly square and bears a central cup-and-ring mark, surrounded by other cup and cup-and-ring marks. Cupmarks probably played a role in neolithic ritual activity, and are found on isolated boulders, as well as incorporated within monuments. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
