Scope and Content Cinerary Urn from the stone circle at Sandy Road, Scone, Perth and Kinross A stone circle stood on the west side of the village of New Scone. The circle comprises seven stones and in 1961 it was excavated prior to a new housing scheme being built. This is a view of an urn that was found buried upright at the centre of the stone circle. It contained the remains of a cremation. Radiocarbon dating indicates that the contents were more than 3000 years old. Originally it was thought that there was a second stone circle next to the first. Only three stones were said to have survived, but it is possible that these were simply three natural boulders.
