Copy of A 78013

Scope and Content Creag Dhearg, shieling, Perth and Kinross The remains of a shieling, lie high up on the west side of Gleann Taitneach, commanding fine views over the glen. The shieling comprises two well-preserved buildings, two enclosures and a turf-built hut. This photograph shows the stone foundations of one of the enclosures, oval in shape. In summer months, cattle were taken to graze in pastures in the hills known as shielings. The shepherds or herdsmen who accompanied the animals lived in small stone- or turf-built huts.
