Oblique aerial view.

SC 385375

Description Oblique aerial view.

Date 1983

Collection RCAHMS Aerial Photography

Catalogue Number SC 385375

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of PT 14138

Scope and Content Craighead, hut-circles, Perth and Kinross To the north of Tullymordoch farmsteading are the remains of seven groups of hut-circles. The group at Craighead is split in two by a forestry track, with the best-preserved houses visible in the centre of the photograph next to the track. Here five hut-circles or houses are grouped together with a courtyard. Pottery discovered during the excavation of a nearby hut-circle suggests a late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age date for these houses. In north-east Perth, field survey and aerial photography have identified extensive prehistoric settlement remains in areas and at heights rarely occupied today. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
