Scope and Content PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM NO 14: STANLEY ALBUM Album brown leather. Inscribed: [back cover] "W.J & S." Purchased 23 April, 1980, from John Grant, Antiquarian Book Seller. (See enclosed letter) Album with 55 amateur and professional photographs of buildings, industries, stations and topographical views as well as family portraits, workmen, farming and local groups, e.g. Stanley Cycling Club and Stanley Curling Club. The portraits include groups of the Thomas, Duncan and Murray families at Stanley. The photographs are mainly from Sutherlandshire, including Brora and Stanley, Perthshire however there are also photographs of Taymount House, and cottages in County Antrim, Northern Ireland and a set of prints from Norway. The photographs are all undated except for one of the Stanley Cycling Club in 1889. The photographer is unidentified, however the four photographs of buildings in County Antrim are by ‘R.W’.
