Scope and Content PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM NO 4: INNES OF COWIE ALBUM Scrapbook album, maroon leather embosssed with gilt, titled ‘Album’ and stamped ‘De La Rue & Co’. Inscribed on first page below a watercolour with fairytale characters: ‘For Auntie, with M. I's love and good wishes for her birthday’. The photographs includes views of St Andrews, Raemoir house and gardens, Cowie House, Parkhill House and gardens, Auchmacoy House, Ellon Castle and gardens, Glasshaugh House, Cluny Chrichton Castle, bridges at ‘The Burn’ and a group at Fyvie Castle. The album also includes photographs of Quebec, Canada; a Roman amphitheatre in Verona and views of Bologna, Italy; Aix Les Bains, France; Canterbury Cathedral, Salisbury and Stonehenge, England, and a portrait of ‘Maria at Bologna’. All the photographs are undated but the majority are likely c1850-1860s in date, however a Valentine image was registered in 1882. Ten small undated etchings by W. D. Innes include views of Dunnottar Castle and a drawing by A. Innes of 'Old House of Ury' 1855; and the album also contains several fine art prints of paintings, many with religious scenes, and portraits of Raphael, Titian, Michael Angelo and Leonardo da Vinci.
