Scope and Content Detail of a medieval sculptured stone at Kirkpatrick House, Dumfries and Galloway A finely-carved Maltese cross, dated to the 14th century, can be seen incorporated into a garden wall at Kilpatrick House. The stone was possibly a consecration cross at the medieval parish church at Kirkpatrick-Fleming, or a grave-marker in the churchyard. The cross was probably brought here as building rubble quarried from the church. Kirkpatrick House occupies the site of a late medieval tower-house erected in 1548 by the Irvings, the local landowners. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
