Catalogue Number SC 381977

Copy of DC 32584

Scope and Content Redrawn from DC 32417 for publication as comparative plan. Plan of a settlement near Mollin steading, Dumfries and Galloway The remains of this prehistoric settlement lie on a gentle south-eastern-facing slope some 340m south of Mollin steading. Oval on plan, the settlement lies within a stony bank, with a well-defined entrance in the south-east. The interior is divided by a hollow way running to the rear of the settlement, and on either side of this track are traces of building platforms. Settlements like this enclosed timber-built round-houses with a yard for keeping animals and storage. A mixture of animal husbandry and arable cultivation were likely practised by the inhabitants.
