Scope and Content Aerial view of the monastic enclosure at Sgorr nam Ban-naomha, Canna, Highland The stone-walled enclosure lies at the foot of the steep cliffs named Sgorr nam Ban-naomha - the cliff of the holy women - on a remote, rock-bound terrace on the south-west coast of Canna. This is an aerial view of the monastic enclosure. It lies at the foot of the steep scree slope below the cliffs. It is the best-preserved site of this type in the Hebrides. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
