It was bought by James Preston of Denbrae in 1690 and extended to the north. In about 1765, the whole building was remodelled for William Paston, a goldsmith from London. The first-floor dinning room, like most of the rest of the interior, dates from about 1690. It is fully panelled with classical Corinthian columns on either side of the fireplace.
