Scope and Content Chambered cairn at Kilchoan, Kilmartin, Argyll and Bute The remains of this cairn lie on a low ridge 150m north-west of Kilchoan Lodge. The Clyde-type chamber is exposed as much of the cairn material has been removed at some point in the past - probably to be reused for building nearby walls. This is a view of the cairn, with the chamber at the centre. It is constructed from a series of large stone slabs. The chamber was entered from the north-east. The chamber was examined by R Mapleton in 1864. Finds included burnt bone, flint tools (now in the Royal Museum of Scotland) and a Food Vessel (in the West Highland Museum, Fort William).
