Scope and Content Standing stone at Torbhlaran, Argyll and Bute This standing stone is situated in an arable field about 450m north of Torbhlaran farmstead. Aligned north-west and south-east, this monolith stands about 2.1m in height and is 0.15m thick. Up to 30 cup marks can be seen on this face, a further nine have been identified on the reverse. The purpose of standing stones remains uncertain. Some perhaps held religious or ceremonial significance, others possibly acted as territorial or route markers. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
