Scope and Content Cairn at Ri Cruin, Kilmartin, Argyll and Bute This cairn is situated in trees 200m south of Ri Cruin. It has been excavated on three occasions and three cists were found. None of these contained any grave goods. This stone formed the west end of the southernmost of the three cists. It has been decorated with seven axeheads which have been pecked into the surface. The cairn was excavated in 1870 by Dean Mapleton, in 1929 by JH Craw and by V Gordon Childe in 1936. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
