Scope and Content Standing stones at Ballymeanoch, Argyll and Bute The Ballymeanoch group of standing stones is arranged in two almost parallel rows of four and two stones apiece, aligned on a north-west to south-east axis. Just to the north-west of the group stood a monolith, perhaps an outlying stone to the setting. This view shows the group of two stones from the west. One stone rises to a height of 3m and the other 2.7m. The Kilmartin valley is particularly rich in standing stones and stone rings. The purpose of such monuments is unknown.
