Scope and Content Standing stones at Ballymeanoch, Argyll and Bute This impressive group of standing stones at Ballymeanoch is arranged in two almost parallel rows of two and four stones, aligned north-west to south-east. A further stone stood on its own to the north-west. This view of Ballymeanoch shows the positions of the two groups of stones. The row of four is in the foreground and two beyond. The cup-and-ring marks on one of the stones (second from left) can be clearly seen. The Kilmartin valley is particularly rich in standing stones and stone rings. The purpose of stone settings such as this is unknown. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
