Scope and Content Elevation of north panelling (D) of first-floor private room, 1597 block of Culross Palace, Culross, Fife Culross Palace, originally called 'The Great Lodging', was built between 1597 and 1611 by George Bruce. Restored by The National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland, it is the best surviving example of a merchant's house from that period. The door (G) leads into the fire-proof strongroom. The panelling was probably installed during the reign of George II (1727-1760). Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
