Scope and Content Mid 19th century perspective drawing of Union Street and the rest of Aberdeen From 1800-1840, a generation of prestigious young architects led by John Smith and Archibald Simpson remodelled Aberdeen in Grecian neoclassical style and improved the infrastructure to meet the needs of the city's expanding industries. In this perspective drawing from 1850, the early 19th-century Union Street runs from right to left through the centre of the neoclassical city. Factories and tenements for the workers form a less attractive fringe to the city. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
