Scope and Content Coroghon Castle, Canna and Coroghon Bay from the south-west Coroghon Castle stands on top of a stack at the south-east end of the cliffs that form the east end of Canna. The castle is said to have been a prison, used in the late 17th century by Donald MacDonald of Clanranald to confine his wife. View along the shore of Coroghon Bay with the mountains of Skye in the background. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
