Scope and Content The fort on Dun Channa, Canna This fort occupies a coastal stack at the western tip of Canna. An impressive drystone wall defends the landward side of the stack, where access is only possible by a narrow spine of outcrop. The wall and entrance at Dun Channa give a good impression of the strength of this small fort. The wall is up to 1.7m thick and still stands to a height of 2.4m in fourteen courses. A survey of Canna and Sanday was undertaken by the Royal Commission to record all the archaeological sites and monuments and the landscape within which they lie. This landscape is published as RCAHMS Broadsheet 5. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
