Scope and Content Part of drawing of structural analysis of Craigellachie Bridge, showing a plan of part of the bridge The Old Bridge at Craigellachie was erected in 1814-15 by Thomas Telford. It is almost identical in design to the now-demolished bridge he built at Bonar two years earlier. Together, they represent Telford's two major cast-iron works in Scotland. The bridge was reconstructed above the arched girders or arch-ribs in 1963. It is built in the form of a segmental arch, which rises to 6.33m, has a width of 4.6m, and spans 46.18m. This is part of a drawing showing a structural analysis of the bridge. This shows a plan of part of the bridge. It shows the lattice cross-plates, which were designed to help reduce the weight of the bridge, but also to strengthen and stabilise it. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
