Scope and Content Chambered cairn at South Yarrows, Caithness, Highland There are two chambered cairns at South Yarrow, lying E-W on the flat summit of the hill, about 30 m apart. Both have forecourts defined by horns and were originally edged with drystone walls. Both were excavated in 1865. This is a view of the N cairn. It is smaller than its neighbour and overgrown. Horns form the courtyard area from which a passage led to the chamber at the E end. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
