Scope and Content Detail of inscribed keystone, Avonbank Bleach and Dye Works, Larkhall, Strathclyde Avonbank Bleach and Dye Works was converted from a printworks c.1836 for D C Miller & Company who imported cotton cloth from Lancashire and, using beetling machines, manufactured cotton roller blinds with a dust-repellent finish known as 'Scotch Holland'. Bearing the initials 'D C M', for D C Miller & Company, and the date 1878, this inscribed keystone was relocated on the main block of the complex. The bleach works complex consists of a main three-storeyed four-by-ten-bayed building dating from the printworks of c.1796. A two-storeyed airing and beetling shed was built in 1839 and a single-storeyed beetling shed was erected in 1898. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
