Scope and Content Temporary camp at Birrens, Dumfries and Galloway The Roman temporary camp at Birrens lies on flat ground above the Mein Water. A more substantial fort was also built in the area. It is now only possible to see the camp as a cropmark in aerial views, as there are no surface remains. Two rounded corners and sections of the adjacent sides can be seen here.
