Scope and Content Underside of arch of Friockheim railway viaduct over Lunan Water, Angus Friockheim railway viaduct was built around 1840 for the Arbroath and Forfar Railway line between Arbroath and Montrose. This route was superseded in the 1880s by North British Railway's direct coastal line. The viaduct was disused by 1914. This shows the underside or soffit of the arch. It is made up of six ribs bonded by six transverse ribs. The two ribs at the top of the arch are termed a double rib because they are close together. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
