Scope and Content Plan of engine-house of beam-engine in Garlogie Mill, Garlogie, Grampian This mid 19th-century beam-engine is virtually intact and is the only Scottish example of its type still in its original position. It is a house-built rotative beam-engine of medium size, with a double-acting cylinder, separate condenser and air pump. Steam was piped from the boiler-house to drive the beam-engine which turned the bearing (Z), transferring power to the rest of the mill. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
