Scope and Content Temporary camp at Stonypath, Scottish Borders This Roman temporary camp was built on the steep NW slope of Lead Law, and part of the defensive ditch and rampart can still be traced on the ground. The camp was built to the SE of the Roman road which led from Elginhaugh to Biggar. In this aerial view parts of two sides and one of the rounded corners can be seen. This may represent only a small part of the camp, which probably continued on the flatter ground on the other side of the modern road. The remains of the rampart are up to 3.5 m thick by 0.9 m high, and the ditch measures 2.4 m in breadth. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
