This photograph illustrates querns, stone vessels and other stone objects found during the excavations at three broch sites. Barry recognised the need to make a record of his work and this is one of several photographs which show the artefacts he found. They were photographed on a grassy bank in the garden at Keiss Castle. Sir Francis Tress Barry was MP for Windsor, Berkshire between 1890 and 1906. He had enjoyed a distinguished diplomatic and business career, and began to take an active interest in archaeology after his purchase of Keiss Castle, Caithness in 1890.
