Scope and Content Fort and temporary camp at Cardean, Angus This Roman fort is at Cardean, near Meigle, Angus. The fort appears to have had one short period of occupation. Traces of the turf rampart, some 6.1 m wide, can still be seen to the N and SE. The camp lies to the E. This is an aerial view of the site. Part of the temporary camp, including one rounded corner, can be seen near the centre of the image. A small section of the rampart still survives. The whole of the W side and part of the other sides have been located. The fort has been excavated providing information on the location of internal roads and the position of some of the barrack blocks. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
