Scope and Content Fort and temporary camp at Stracathro, Angus This Roman fort and temporary camp are at Stracathro. The fort is probably one of the series of auxiliary forts surrounding the fortress at Inchtuthil. The camp lies to the SW of the fort. This is an aerial view of the site. The fort can be seen as a series of cropmarks at the centre of the image, in front of the church. Based on what excavation work has been done, the fort is thought to have faced either NW or SE. The site was discovered through aerial photography in 1957. Some excavations have been done on the site. Finds include an As, dated AD 86. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
