Scope and Content Temporary camp and enclosure at Woodhead, Midlothian This Roman temporary camp and enclosure are at Woodhead, Midlothian. The enclosure surrounds the camp. This is an aerial view of the site. A section of the polygonal enclosure can be seen as a series of cropmarks across the centre of the image. Three straight sections and two rounded angles are visible. The enclosure had an entrance in its W side. The fort was discovered in 1976 through aerial photography. It was excavated in 1983. The camp was possibly a Flavian labour camp. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
