Scope and Content Temporary camp and enclosure at Woodhead, Midlothian This Roman temporary camp and enclosure are at Woodhead, Midlothian. The enclosure surrounds the camp. This is an aerial view of the site. The camp can be seen in the middle of the image. All four angles show up as crop marks. There were entrances in the middle of the NE and SW side, one of which can be clearly seen here, with its clavicula gate. The fort was discovered in 1976 through aerial photography. It was excavated in 1983. The camp was possibly a Flavian labour camp. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
