Description Oblique aerial view of Castle Greg, Roman fortlet.

Date 1990

Collection RCAHMS Aerial Photography

Catalogue Number SC 353622

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of B 46609

Scope and Content Fortlet at Castle Greg, West Lothian This fortlet is at Castle Greg and is built just S of the summit of Camilty Hill. It is well preserved and may indicate a existence of a minor Roman road to the W of the Pentland Hills. No such road is yet known however. This is an aerial view of the site with the fortlet being clearly visible in the middle of the image. The defences consisted of a rampart and two outer ditches. Between the ditches was a small, up-cast bank. The entrance is in the NE side. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
