Scope and Content Shell Exploration and Production Ltd Headquarters, Altens Farm Road, Aberdeen The industrial zone at Altens is a product of Aberdeen's oil boom. Planning controls gathered commercial and industrial developments into concentrated zones, especially south of the city at Altens and Nigg. The Shell Exploration and Production Ltd headquarters were built in 1975-85 by McKinnes Gardner and Partners. Aberdeen's oil boom lasted from the discovery of oil in 1969 until the early 1980s.
