Scope and Content Logboat from Loch Doon (no. 1), Straiton, East Ayrshire The logboat (otherwise known as a 'dugout' or 'canoe') is a simple and 'primitive' boat, but this does not imply that it is necessarily early, most examples recovered being medieval or later in date. This simple and crude unfinished logboat is one of six discovered in 1823-31 in Loch Doon. It bears numerous toolmarks and is now in the Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow; a replica is in the Scottish Fisheries Museum, Anstruther, Fife. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
