White Loch logboat

SC 352849

Description White Loch logboat

Catalogue Number SC 352849

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of DC 36081 PO

Scope and Content Logboat from White Loch, Inch, Dumfries and Galloway The logboat (otherwise known as a 'dugout' or 'canoe') is a simple and 'primitive' boat, but this does not imply that it is necessarily early, most examples recovered being medieval or later in date. This incomplete logboat was discovered about 1870 and is in Dumfries Museum; it has apparently been of a simple form. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
