Loch Leven logboat

SC 352836

Description Loch Leven logboat

Catalogue Number SC 352836

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of DC 36059 PO

Scope and Content Logboat fragments from Loch Leven, Perth and Kinross The logboat (otherwise known as a 'dugout' or 'canoe') is a simple and 'primitive' boat, but this does not imply that it is necessarily early, most examples recovered being medieval or later in date. This timber fragment in Kinross Museum may have formed part of the stern of the logboat that was found probably in 1830-2 when the level of Loch Leven was lowered by drainage works.
