Publication drawing; plan and section of the Dalmarnock logboat

SC 352827

Description Publication drawing; plan and section of the Dalmarnock logboat

Date 1996

Catalogue Number SC 352827

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of DC 35999 PO

Scope and Content Logboat from Dalmarnock, Little Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross The logboat (otherwise known as a 'dugout' or 'canoe') is a simple and 'primitive' boat, but this does not imply that it is necessarily early, most examples recovered being medieval or later in date. This logboat was discovered in 1975 during construction of the 'new' A9 road and remains stored in a loch. It is typical of many logboat finds, having been reduced to a flat plank by abrasion in river gravels. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
