Scope and Content Fortlet at Oxton, Scottish Borders This Roman fortlet is at Oxton. It was built alongside a stretch of Dere Street, the main Roman road in the area. The fort has several small annexes, and one very large one to the SE, running along the side of the old road. This is an aerial view of the site. The fort and its smaller annexes can be seen as crop marks in the centre of the image, with the larger annexe running to the right. The fort's entrance can be seen in the SW (lower) side, and faced Dere Street. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
