Scope and Content Detail of section of mosaic floor in dairy at Guisachan Farm, Highland Guisachan Farm lies c.20km west of Drumnadrochit, just outside the village of Tomich. Originally the home farm of Guisachan House, the farm incorporated a steading, farmhouse, factor's house, cottages and an ornamental dairy. The dairy was erected c.1870 and was designed by Alexander and William Reid, who had carried out alterations and extensions to Guisachan House in c.1860. It was built in an Alpine style, with two canopied porticos supported by rows of rustic posts. Inside, the dairy is divided into a scullery and a milk-room. The milk-room is paved with coloured mosaic tiles (terrazzo) laid in a pattern of squares. A fountain in the centre of the room watered the floor and kept the atmosphere cool.
