Scope and Content Drawing of view from north-west showing Edradour Distillery, Milton of Edradour, Perth and Kinross Edradour Distillery lies just over 1km east of Pitlochry in the hamlet of Milton of Edradour. It was founded in 1837 as a farm distillery and was using the traditional methods and equipment for distilling until the 1960s. This drawing of the distillery shows the malt-barn (left) with its distinctive pyramid-topped roof vent. The main distillery building (centre) contains many early features such as a two-roller malt-mill (or bruiser). On the right are warehouses. Just in front of the main building and warehouses is a small building which was originally a whisky store or shop where the whisky was sold direct from the cask. This practice stopped after the Maturation Act of 1915. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
