Scope and Content Longitudinal section of warehouse at Keiss Harbour, Caithness The warehouse is part of Keiss Harbour, a well-preserved example of the several small 19th-century fishing-stations on the eastern coast of Caithness. The steps lead around the back to the first-floor entrance. On the same floor, loading-doors open onto the front. Below, the barrel-vaulted cellars were used for storing the salt for the herring-curing process. Each had its own door. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
