Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Sueno's Stone at Forres, Morayshire Sueno's Stone is a 7.6 ton slab of stone, probably from the coast at Covesea some 15 km away. One story is that the stone commemorate a major battle against Norse settlers from Orkney. Found buried in 1726, the stone is now covered by a glass case. This side is carved with a large ring-headed cross which is filled with interlace and knotwork. Below the cross two bearded figures face each other with smaller figures behind. The interlace decoration continues down the north and south sides. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
