Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Kirriemuir 3 at Forfar, Angus This cross-slab is one of a large number of carved stones found in or near Kirriemuir. It was found, with another stone, in the foundations of the old church when it was demolished in 1787. This is a drawing of the stone which appeared in John Stuart's 1856 publication 'The Sculptured Stones of Scotland'. It shows a horseman with spear, set in a key-work frame. Above are the legs of a second horse. There is also a small hound. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
