Scope and Content Treadle-loom and blanket loom on second floor of woollen mill at Bridgend, Islay The woollen mill was built in 1883 on the east bank of the River Sorn which drove the waterwheel providing power for the machinery. It is typical of smaller country factories of the time. The treadle-loom is on the left. To the right is the powered blanket-loom. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
